MY PHOTOGRAPHIC HISTORY
My photographic history started around the early sixties, in fact the time I spent about one year volontary in military service in previous Netherlands New Guinea (now Papua-West New Guinea), starting October 1961.
The camera I used there was a Topcon R which I bought second hand from a collegue.
Later-on I switched-over onto a Fujica ST-701 and bought in 1977 a 135 mm. objective in the then famous shopping-mall "Peoples Park" in Singapore during a trip through Indonesia and Malaysia in 1977 as I left a bit of my "roots" in S.E.Asia during my army-time in New Guinea and also caused by my living in the fifties in Holland in between various "Spijtoptanten" (Indo people)-neighbours. (Indos in colonial history)
During the sixties, seventies and a part of the eighties I shot mostly dia-positive photos (color slides) but also some color-negative photos.
When I started working for Minolta in the Netherlands I started using first the Minolta XD-7 which came just on the market and later the X-700.
My "photo-production" collapsed unfortunately after my emigration from my native-country Holland to l'Escala, North-Spain (Catalonia) in 1988. This periode lasted 15 years. In 2004 certain circumstances enabled me to start again which resulted gradually in a yearly expansion with a boom starting around 2005 when I was so fortunate, and grateful about that, to be able to travel around some countries in S.E.Asia, starting with Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Indonesia and the Philippines.
My first (digital) start was with a Konica C35-AF which I lost unfortunately and in 2006 I started using my first digital SLR-camera, a Dimage, (a Minolta of course), bought in the photo-shop of my first and best friend in Spain, Joan Ibañez Alcalá, in Torroella de Montgri. Due to very poor service-facilities of Minolta in Thailand I had to switch-over onto Canon and started with a EOS 400D and switched later over to a EOS 450D. As I was lots of times using the camera during evening-hours and could not use a flash I had to switch-over onto a EOS 7D which can be used upto ASA (ISO) 6.400 and even higher. However, I miss my Minolta very much and sometimes I'm questioning myself if I better switched-over to Nikon.
My goal is starting trying to give more explanation / links with the photos / galleries and to avoid photo-dump which, however, is making the album partly a blog.
WHEN YOU LINKED PHOTOS OR A GALLERY AND THE LINK BROKE, WHICH I FIND ALWAYS VERY ANNOYING MYSELF, PLEASE INFORM ME AS THAT IS CAUSED BY A (RE)ORGANIZATION OF THAT PART OF THE ALBUM!
This album replaces my previous ones in Flickr and SmugMug.
